AU recognizes graduates in spring '22 Commencement ceremonies

Augusta University held commencement ceremonies for the graduating class of spring 2022 in three sessions on May 12-13.
The graduate commencement was hosted in the Bell Auditorium May 12. The undergraduate commencement was held the following day at the Augusta Marriot, May 13, and was divided into two sessions. The first recognized the degree candidates from the College of Education, College of Science and Mathematics, School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, and the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
This commencement marked the first graduating class from the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences.
The second session recognized the degree candidates from the College of Nursing, College of Allied Health Sciences and Hull College of Business.
Dave Brendza, division vice president of ADP, was the keynote speaker for both undergraduate commencement ceremonies.
“Congratulations to each one of you,” he said. “This is a remarkable achievement.”
Brendza spoke of the open opportunities in the job market and told the graduating class they had the resources they need.
“You’re well equipped for what’s next,” he said.
He said that graduates should use what they have learned to make a difference.
“Be a force for good in the world,” said Brendza.
Zyare Orr, degree candidate for bachelor of science in chemistry and Mr. Augusta University, served as the student speaker for the first undergraduate commencement session.
He said that fellow students should have confidence in their future and remember connections they made during their time at AU.
“Remember, as Jaguars, we’ve been equipped with the knowledge and resources to uncover the unknown,” he said.
Those who could not attend in person were able to watch the ceremony in a livestream.
