Augusta University’s Center for Writing Excellence held a launch party for its new location in room E158 of Allgood Hall on Jan. 25.

The launch party was a success for the office, which had more than 100 students attend. Pizza and treats were made available for students to enjoy as they visited the location. Students were also able to participate to get their name drawn in a raffle to win a CWE swag bag. The swag bag consisted of a t-shirt, cup and other items.

Candice Bond, director of the Center of Writing Excellence, is happy with the writing center’s new location.

“It feels wonderful to have a larger space where we can serve more students, faculty and staff,” said Bond.

Bond plans to bring more awareness to the writing center by using social media. The office aims to target many audiences and reach out to certain departments for collaborations. Bond said the staff at the writing center wants students to know that they are always welcomed.

“We want people to know that you’re welcomed to come in and make yourself at home,” Bond said. “This is a space for writers on campus.”

Attendants had the opportunity to take photos in front of a balloon display at the launch party on Jan. 25. At the top of page, the Center for Writing Excellence is on the first floor of Allgood Hall. (photos by Micah Webb)
