AU baseball team wins over Flagler, 6-2, in series opener

Kyle Lodise had three hits and Mason Bernard threw seven innings of four-hit ball to lead the Augusta University baseball team to a 4-2 win over Flagler on Friday, March 24, in the Peach Belt Conference series opener.
AU scored three runs in the third inning, and that was all the run support that Bernard needed.
With one out in the third, Koby Ayala doubled before Lodise singled to put runners at first and third. Jordan Wilkie would single home two runs, and the third run scored on Rushton Bowles’ single to right field.
Lodise would single and score in the fifth. Then the Jaguars added two more insurance runs in the seventh. Ayala and Lodise had singles in the inning, and both scored.
Turner Sircy pitched the last two innings to get the save for Augusta.
Jags drop final two in series
The Saints won the next two games in the series 15-5 and 9-6. In the second game, Flagler pounded out 14 hits, and Jaiden Warde went 5 for 5 with six runs batted in.
In the finale, Ingram homered for AU, but a five-run eighth for Flagler was the difference.
AU improved to 7-11 in the conference and 13-15 overall. The Saints dropped to 2-11 and 6-21.
The Jaguars will play USC Aiken at SRP Park in North Augusta, S.C., on Wednesday, March 29, at 6:35 p.m.
AU softball stops skid, gets two PBC road wins
The Jaguar softball team stopped a seven-game losing streak as the won the first and third game of a PBC series at USC Beaufort.
Augusta scored three runs in each of the second and third innings en route to an 8-5 win. Lauren Barrett went 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBI for the Jaguars. Paige Patterson went 2 for 4 with a double.
After losing the nightcap Friday in a tight 4-2 contest, AU came back to win the finale on Saturday, March 25, by a 10-0 score. Shelbie Summerlin and Hayden Pearson each had two RBI for the Jaguars (2-13, 15-18). Bailee Roberts had two hit, including a double. Grace Bridges and Bobbi Poff also had two hits apiece.
The Jaguars will host Georgia College this coming Friday and Saturday (March 31-April 1).
