Despite a furious rally in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Augusta University baseball team lost to Erskine College 7-6 on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Jaguar Baseball Field.

The Jaguars (1-3) went out to a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second on Mike Morrison’s home run after Pat Galvin had tripled home a run in the first, but the Fleet (3-1) had two-run innings in the sixth and seventh to build a 5-2 advantage.

Erskine scored two more in the top of the ninth before AU stormed back to cut the lead to a single run. The ninth-inning runs were scored by Galvin, Morrison, Parker Ingram and Jordan Wilkie. However, Koby Ayala flied out to center with two runners on to end the game.

Ashby Smith and Christian Rivera had two RBI each for the Fleet.

The Jaguars will host Virginia-Wise on Saturday, Feb. 11, and Sunday, Feb. 12. First patch of the opener Saturday is at noon. Second game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Sunday’s first pitch will be at 1 p.m.
