Augusta University President Brooks Keel and Augusta Technical College President Jermaine Whirl announced a new partnership on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

The Augusta Advantage transfer program will guarantee admission to Augusta University for any student who graduates with an A.S or select A.A.S degree(s) from Augusta Technical College.

The program offers eight possible pathways at Augusta University to earn a bachelor’s degree. These pathways include business administration, communication, computer science, kinesiology, nursing, political science, psychology and social work.

“Our goal is to provide as many resources as possible, to give students an easy transition through this program,” said Keel.

Students in high school can be dual enrolled at Augusta Technical College and take up to 30 credits, or 1 year of college courses, finish their associates degree at ATC and then transfer to Augusta University and finish their bachelor’s degree in about three years.

Augusta University and Augusta Technical College are the only public institutions in Augusta.

“This initiative is going to focus and ensure that we have a seamless pathway for our K-12 all the way to Ph.D. right here in our region,” said Whirl.

April Byrd, the new Augusta Advantage admissions coordinator, was also introduced at the event.
