All hands on deck for student leaders

Augusta University’s student leaders are back in full swing for the spring semester. Before the semester began, the Office of Student Life and Engagement hosted a Student Leadership Conference, bringing together leaders from fraternities, sororities, and independent organizations. Dr. ShaRon S. Dukes and Roberto Aragon spearheaded the conference.

The spring semester is highlighted by Augusta University’s annual homecoming festivities, which this year promises to be bigger than ever. Events include JagMania, the annual dance competition where organizations select teams to perform before a packed house at Maxwell Theatre. The week will culminate with the homecoming dance and basketball game.

Homecoming week is a cherished tradition for students, with significant preparation required from participating organizations. Jake Koharchik, president of Pi Kappa Phi, emphasized the importance of engaging his chapter during the busy week.

“It’s all about getting the chapter excited. It’s definitely the best week of the spring semester,” Koharchik said. “I believe planning events around homecoming would give the chapter alternative activities to look forward to. And just getting everyone out to the homecoming events is a must. The school supports our events, so it’s only right to show up and give it our all.”

Fraternity leaders also stress the need for strong communication during this hectic period. Pi Kappa Phi Vice President Tripp Baggott shared advice for tackling the week’s challenges.

“It’s very important to communicate throughout your organization about upcoming events and to show up with your ‘A game,’” Baggott said. “Most importantly, it’s about attacking the day ahead and having a good time while doing it.”

With all hands on deck, student leaders are striving to make this year’s homecoming the most interactive and memorable one yet.
