The Central Savannah River Area’s (CSRA) march was planned by several students at Evans High school. The main coordinators of the march are Evans high school students Emily Ball, Abby Brooks, Alyssa Johnson and Emilie Powell.Ball spoke about how the group of students found each other so that they could plan this event.“We were all inspired by the people from Marjory Stoneman Douglas who decided that they weren’t going to let this issue go without a fight,” she said, “and all of us wanted to speak about gun violence.”Ball also spoke about how she wants the people of Augusta to understand that they aren’t protesting to ban guns, but protesting to have stricter gun control laws so mass shootings don’t happen.“I think we all can agree that there is common ground between us. We may disagree on some things, but we can also work together to come up with a solution that fits what both sides want.” She said. The event will start at the Colombia County Board of Education office on Hereford Farm Road at 10 a.m. and it will end at Evans High School around 1 p.m.
