By Kait Fruechting | ContributorAUGUSTA, Ga. - On September 15 during the opening day of the 2017 Arts in the Heart Festival, nearly a hundred people gathered in front of the Miller Theater with cameras raised waiting for the marquee lights to shine again. Something that has not been seen for 40 years.Following its restoration, the Miller Theater is no longer an abandoned building on Broad Street but will become the home of the Symphony Orchestra Augusta. While it is not scheduled to open until January 6, 2018, the SOA plans to hold a minimum of seven performances per year, according to WJBF.Contact Kait Fruechting at kfruechting@augusta.edu.
