Staff reportWINGATE, N.C.—Behind the play of Nicolette Ramos, Chloe Allen and Kylie Martin, the fourth-seeded Augusta University volleyball team shocked top-seeded Wingate in the semifinal of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at Cuddy Arena on Friday night, Dec. 6.The Jaguars (29-8) advanced to the regional final against third-seeded Carson-Newman. The final will be played Saturday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. at Wingate.Augusta won a roller-coaster match by set scores of 24-26, 25-13, 13-25, 25-12, 15-3. Ramos led AU with 14 kills and 10 digs in the win over Wingate. Allen, second team all-region, added nine kills and nine digs, while Martin chipped in nine kills and 15 digs.Payton Murchie paced the Jaguars with 23 assists. Teammate Samantha Zittrayer added 20.Wingate (30-3) was led by Sophie Schaff with 11 kills. Teammate Rachel Alles had 18 digs, while Reese Blackley had 10 kills for the Bulldogs.Augusta had lost to Wingate in three sets on Sept. 7 in the Queens tournament, but the Jaguars got their revenge in the regional semifinal.Carson-Newman (27-7) defeated seventh-seeded Flagler 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 25-23 in the other semifinal. Megan Oldenburger led C-N with 17 kills and 16 digs. The Eagles defeated the Jaguars in four sets on Oct. 12. Set scores were 20-25, 25-12, 25-22, 25-18.
