Jaguar volleyball team beats USC Aiken, advances in Southeast Regional

Staff reportWINGATE, N.C.—The Augusta University volleyball team swept USC Aiken in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Thursday, Jan. 5 at Cuddy Arena.The fourth-seeded Jaguars advance to the semifinals where they will play Wingate on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m.Chloe Allen, named second team all-region before the tournament began, led the way for the Jaguars (28-8) with eight kills and seven digs. Teammate Nedu Evans had nine kills. Jessica Hedrick added five kills and seven blocks. Kylie Martin had seven kills and five digs. Madison Malloch had seven kills.Abbey Schad led the fifth-seeded Pacers (25-6) with six kills and a .267 kill percentage.The 28 wins for Coach Sharon Quarles' AU team is the most in school history. Now the Jaguars most tame the top team in the field in Wingate (30-2). The Bulldogs are playing in their 10th regional semifinal in a dozen years.
