Augusta men ranked third in the Southeast Region

The Augusta University men's basketball team has moved up to third in the Southeast Region rankings in NCAA Division II.

South Atlantic Conference leader Queens University (24-3) is currently in first in the region, followed by USC Aiken (23-2) in second.

The AU Jaguars now have won seven straight games and are 20-5 overall. Coach Dip Metress' team trails Aiken by a game in the Peach Belt Conference race. The two will play Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Aiken, S.C.

UNC Pembroke is fourth and Francis Marion sixth in the regional rankings.

Nationally, undefeated Northwest Missouri State is ranked first, followed by Indiana of Pennsylvania and Nova Southeastern.

Aiken is ranked sixth and Queens 10th nationally.

AU hosts Southwestern Georgia on Saturday, Feb. 23, for homecoming. The women's game starts at 1:30 p.m. and the men at 3:30.
