By Ceara Hester |ContributorAugusta University's volleyball team picked up a road victory at Flagler in St. Augustine, Fla., on Saturday, Oct. 22. The match lasted four sets after Augusta lost the second to the Saints, but the Jaguars (18-5 overall and 5-3 in the Peach Belt Conference) managed to pull out the win after nail-biting third and fourth sets.The Jags took the first set 25-22 with hitting percentages of .211 for AU and .161 for Flagler. The Saints stepped up to win the second 25-19 with a high hitting percentage of .400 compared to Augusta’s .148. The final scores of the last sets were 27-25 and 28-26. Even though Flagler had a higher hitting percentage (.225) than Augusta (.156) in the third set, Augusta still managed to win that set and go to take the fourth for a 3-1 victory.Senior setter McKenzey Beck produced her fifth triple-double of the season with 14 kills, 22 assists and 10 digs. Junior setter Cheryke Brian-Garmos contributed three serving aces for the Jaguars, and sophomore middle-hitter Chloe Allen was behind her with two. Junior middle-blocker Jessica Hedrick and Allen each had nine kills for the team, and Brian-Garmos led the Jags with 24 assists.The next three matches will be at the Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars will face off against Francis Marion for their annual Pink Out match to raise awareness and show support for the Georgia Cancer Center at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26. Then, at noon on Saturday, Oct. 27, the home team will play UNC Pembroke for their 2018 Senior Day. The seniors that will be recognized are Beck, Blair Bolton, Nathalia Gouveia and Savanna Gonzales.
