Taste of Augusta showcases Augusta businesses to students

By Rhys Payne |Staff writerThe Taste of Augusta, an event where organizations and businesses promote their products and services to students, was held in the Douglas Barnard Amphitheater on the Summerville campus Tuesday.Vendors who attended the event included Solé Bar and Grill, Texas Roadhouse, His and Her Hair Salon, Westobou, Shepeard Community Blood Center, Augusta University Police, CEPAR, Buona Caffé, Savannah Riverkeeper, Medical Associates Plus, Student Counseling & Psychological Services, and many othersTaste of Augusta provides an opportunity for students new to the Augusta area to explore and experience all that Augusta has to offer.Gabriella Benavides, a freshman biology major said, “I like [that] it gives us the chance to learn about all the things going on around campus.”Businesses also benefit from the event from increased student business. One vendor, William Taylor Williamson, said that Taste of Augusta has helped increase Solé Bar and Grill’s popularity.“Taste of Augusta has made Solé Bar and Grill the number one server of medical students,” Williamson said. For more information contact Rhys Payne at empayne@augusta.edu
