Augusta Exchange’s Regal Cinemas opened its doors on Aug. 21 for the first time in nearly five months.
In light of the social distancing, the theater chain has imposed strict news guidelines for their guests.
Customers and employees will be expected to wear face coverings at all times unless eating or drinking.
They are also expected to maintain a distance of at least six feet while in the lobby area. As for auditoriums, max capacity has been brought down to 50 percent and ticket reservation requires a minimum of two seats between groups.
Along with this, employees will be required to clean all high touch areas more frequently and their fresh air intake systems have been increased by 100 percent.
When asked about returning to the theater, avid moviegoer Nicholas Young was just happy that theaters in Augusta are re-opening.
“Even the smallest bit of normality coming back makes life feel normal again," Young said. "That being said, I would hope that these regulations are held up to as high of standards as, say, grocery stores or colleges.”
Evans Cinemas and Riverwatch Cinemas have also reopened.
Regal Cinemas is now open seven days a week and is currently showing classic films at a discounted price, along with newer films such as "The New Mutants" and "Tenet."
