Restaurant Review

Haute Doughnuts is the newest bakery to join the Augusta food scene.

Founded by Chef Jeremy Miller, Haute Doughnuts specializes in Vegan baked goods. Haute Doughnuts currently takes online pre-orders and has pop-ups around the Augusta area.

On Sundays at 10 a.mm, the store has a weekly pop-up at Ubora Coffee Roasters at 1128 Jones St. When asked if a storefront is in their future, Chef Jeremy Miller said: “A storefront would be great, but I’m very happy making people happy!”

Their doughnuts are handcrafted and vegan, with gluten free options available. “Vegan food has a perception of being lettuce on a plate sprinkled with chia seeds.  I want people to know that there is so much you can accomplish with a vegan lifestyle,” said Miller.

I had a chance to try out a few of their doughnuts last week and they did not disappoint. Their pastries range between $2-$3.50 which is perfect for college students like myself.

I placed my order online by emailing hautedoughnutsaug@gmail.com and was able to pick them up at Ubora on Sunday morning. The whole process was very easy and despite the long line (that’s how you know they are going to be good), I was able to quickly pick up my order.

I sampled the Galaxy Doughnut, Gluten Free Double Chocolate Doughnut and Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut. While they were all delicious, my favorite was the Gluten Free Double Chocolate Doughnut because of its cake-like texture.
